Day 83: Holemoor to Bridgerule

📏 Distance: 11.00 miles (17.70 km)

☀️ Weather: Warm with strong head winds

⏰ Start Time: 11:08 | Finish Time: 15:28

After yesterday’s heat, today felt like a welcome break. The temperature dropped and a steady wind followed me most of the way—refreshing rather than troublesome.

Before setting off this morning, we spent some time chatting with Linda, who runs the campsite with her husband Richard. Incredibly, they donated our two-night stay to Alzheimer’s Research UK. Gestures like this continue to leave me humbled and immensely grateful.

Adam dropped me back at yesterday’s finishing point, and the route today was fairly gentle—only two inclines worth mentioning. It was mainly road walking along quiet country lanes, which meant not much to photograph, though the surroundings were as peaceful as ever.

A poignant moment came at Anvil Corner, where I passed a memorial marking the crash site of a World War II aircraft.

From there I joined a former railway line that’s now a cycleway and footpath into Holsworthy. After the town the route levelled out, though the headwind gave a bit of resistance. Compared to yesterday’s sun, though, I wasn’t complaining.

Tomorrow’s route is similar in distance, ending near Camelford, where we’ll be camping for the night. Once again, Adam will be helping with transport—his support continues to be invaluable on this journey.
