Day 30 – Peebles to Innerleithen

📍Distance: 8.5 miles / 13.68 km

🌤️ Weather: Dry, sunny, and warm

🕘
Start: 10:00 AM Finish: 1:00 PM

After a slightly later start this morning, I set off from Peebles with just over 8 miles ahead of me – an easy-going distance compared to some of the longer days on this walk

The route followed the peaceful banks of the River Tweed, and with the weather on my side – warm sunshine and clear skies – it made for an easy walk. The scenery was lovely and the path was flat, a welcome contrast to some of the tougher terrain I’ve tackled over the past month.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly meeting up with friends Bob and Joyce Skipworth. As planned, they walked out from Innerleithen to meet me along the route. It was great to share part of today’s journey with them, catching up as we strolled back into Innerleithen together. We enjoyed a lunch in the Traquair Arms.

Tonight’s campsite is great, made even better by the kindness of the owner, Brian, who generously waived the site fee in support of my charity walk. Gestures like this mean so much and are a great reminder of the goodwill that exists along the way.

With the afternoon free, I was able to rest in the sunshine – another half-day off before a more challenging walk to Galashiels tomorrow.

Its difficult to conceive that we are now one month into the walk and have covered 400miles – a third of the total distance!
