Day 22: Cashell Campsite to Drymen
Distance: 10.81 miles / 17.40 km
Weather: warm and sunny
Start: 11:39
Finish: 16:21
After a well-earned lie-in and a bit of housekeeping (yes, even on the trail there’s laundry and cleaning to be done) I finally got going just before lunch. Today was a shorter and gentler day — a welcome change after some of the tougher stretches yesterday
The path undulated gently, nothing too taxing, and with the sun out and the air warm, it made for ideal walking weather with great views over Loch Lomond
I took my time, enjoying the slower pace. I stopped in Drymen this afternoon for a leisurely coffee, soaking up the village atmosphere before strolling the final stretch to our campsite just outside of the village.
Tomorrow’s another relatively short one, and then a rest day on Thursday. Very ready for that little breather.
Tomorrow also marks my final day on the West Highland Way. It’s been a beautiful trail, full of drama, challenge, and inspiring views. From there, I’ll be joining the John Muir Way, which will carry me east toward Edinburgh and the next phase of this JOGLE journey.
But for now it’s feet up and time to enjoy a peaceful evening.
