Supporting Alzheimer’s Research UK:

John O’ Groats to Land’s End
The Twelve Hundred Mile Trek

I’m lacing up my hiking boots again for my next big challenge.

This spring I’m going to hike 1200 miles down the length of Britain, from John O'Groats to Lands End.

The Challenge

Three years ago, my wife Susan died of Alzheimer's, after a long and brutal struggle. I'm passionate about raising awareness and funding for Alzheimer's Research UK, so I'm taking on another challenge:

This spring I’m going to hike 1200 miles down the length of Britain, from John O'Groats to Lands End, to raise money to fight this terrible disease.

The hike will not be easy (particularly at my age!) but I’m determined to do it.

Why It Matters

Every 3 minutes dementia steals a happily ever after. Research is our only chance of changing the ending for people affected by dementia.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK's leading dementia research charity. They exist for a cure.

Your donation helps their scientists and researchers find new ways to diagnose dementia, develop new treatments and find a cure for dementia.

In September 2023 I set myself the challenge of hiking around Lake Windermere in Cumbria in under 12 hours. The result: 11 hours 54 minutes, 32 miles walked and £4500 raised.
