I began the day thinking this would be one of my shorter walks. How wrong I was! It ended up being one of the longest in a while…
The day started well after a great stopover at the Brook House Inn, where the campsite was just behind the pub. A huge thank you to Lyn for making us feel so welcome. The hospitality was brilliant, and we had a lovely meal in the pub last evening.
Back on the trail, I rejoined the Macmillan Way, which I followed for the entire day. The route had its fair share of challenges, including diverted footpaths and others so overgrown they were completely impassable. Rerouting cost me a few extra miles, turning a supposedly “easy” day into a real test of endurance.
Despite the detours, warm weather, and occasional frustration, I made it through. Days like these remind me that JoGLE isn’t just about distance—it has can also be a quite a mental challenge.
Adam has also had his challenges fitting in his rowing with all the other jobs that he does whilst I just keep walking. He’s doing really well though, rowing the all the miles I walk.
He met me with the usual welcome cup of tea when I arrived, and after a rest and a shower we enjoyed the evening with a relaxing meal at the Devonshire Arms in Long Sutton.
Tomorrow looks to be around 17 miles… assuming the footpaths cooperate!
